Job Title: Radio Journalist

Duty Station: Ruben FM – Nairobi

Ruben Centre is a Faith Based Organization in Mukuru kwa Reuben slums. We are seeking to recruit two (2) Radio Journalists to work at the Centre’s community Radio station to help in empowering, educating and entertaining the Mukuru residents through Radio shows’ presentation. Key Responsibilities

• Planning and running a live show;
• Generating and moderating ideas for your own show;
• Writing scripts, collecting news, conducting interviews, editing and handling technical duties;
• Assisting in establishing and maintaining the station’s culture to be professional, positive and energetic;
• Ensuring the program content remains relevant to the community;
• Attracting celebrities, artists, subject experts and guests to Ruben FM;
• Assist in scheduling of programs, advertisements and music;
• Assisting the Station Manager and Producer as and when required;
• Assisting with the attracting of businesses/NGOs to advertise/sponsor with Ruben FM;

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma/Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication or any Media related course;
• High level of concentration and multi-tasking ability;
• Outgoing and confident with a likable personality;
• Calmness under pressure and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines;
• Excellent command of Kiswahili and a clear speaking voice;
• Ability to work well with others in the production team and participants in the program;
• Ability to get on and connect with people from a wide variety of background;
• At least 2 years’ experience;
• A foundation of Christian Values.
